It’s been a hot minute since I’ve put any sort of list out there, so I thought I’d have a little fun and do so today. Especially since I’ve got at least thirty-five books I suddenly want to read!
Does this have something to do with the fact that I finally have a well paying job? Perhaps. Only took me 20 years of working to get here. Does it have everything to do with the other fact that I can feel my brain freeing itself from one kind of writing to another? Absolutely.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had trouble focusing on more than one or two things at a time. Yes, I can multitask when necessary, but I still prefer to finish one task before moving on to the next. I think that’s why I never finished a manuscript, or didn’t decide until recently to change up my writing journey. But I won’t allow myself to have any regrets. Regrets aren’t the point of today’s post!
Let’s first take a look at a small list of fiction I’d like to read:
Second Star To The Left by Megan van Dyke
Bright by Jessica Jung
The Mayfair Bookshop by Eliza Knight
Once Upon A Wardrobe by Patti Callahan
The Library of the Unwritten by AJ Hackwith
The Forest of Vanishing Stars by Kristin Harmel
Ashes and Alchemy by Cindy Spencer Pape
Where Secrets Sleep by Marta Perry
Darling Girl by Liz Michalski
The Librarian Spy by Madeline Martin
All The Missing Girls by Megan Miranda
And now for the nonfiction!
Pittsburgh Food Crawls - Shannon Daly
Haunted Pittsburgh - Timothy Murray
Forgotten Tales of Pittsburgh - Thomas White
The Demon of Brownsville Road - Bob Cranmer
The Schenley Experiment - Jake Oresick
Pittsburgh’s Mansions - Melanie Linn Gutowski
Out Of This Furnace - Thomas Bell
Big Steel - Kenneth Warren
Remembering Pittsburgh - Len Barcousky
An Uncommon Passage - Edward K. Muller
The Fallingwater Cookbook - Suzanne Martinson
As you can see, I have a very specific set of interests when it comes to my reading habits. This summer, I plan on diving even deeper into the history of Southwestern Pennsylvania. One day I’ll branch out past Johnstown, but there’s enough knowledge in this region to keep one busy for a lifetime!
While Instagram did provide some inspiration for the fictional titles on this list, I’ve had my eye on the nonfiction ones for quite some time. It is my hope that you’ll enjoy your own reading journey this summer, and that you’re reading not for the internet but for your own pleasure. We don’t need to try and beat everyone else’s goals. Just read because you want to read. Heaven knows that’s how I’ll be reading through my Bookish Wish List this year!
